The 1 Ounce Silver Round
Silver rounds are minted by a number of respected, accredited private mints in the U.S., such as Sunshine (SMI), A-Mark, APMEX, Golden State, and Great American. Produced in many designs , they contain the same 1 troy ounce of silver as government-issued “coins”. However, because they are not minted by governments, they’re called “rounds”. With noticeably lower premiums, rounds tend to be a better buy for investors looking to get more silver for their money.
The Silver Buffalo is a popular design for rounds. The look is based on the much-loved U.S. Indian Head Buffalo Nickel designed by James Earle Fraser, minted 1913 to 1938. Fraser developed the initial design by sketching a 1,550 pound bison named “Black Diamond”. The portrait-side of the Buffalo Round is thought to be a combination of three Native American chiefs: Two Moons, Big Tree, and Iron Tail.
Silver rounds come in many other well-known designs as well, and the ones BlueVault sells are all guaranteed to contain 99.9% pure silver. These rounds are widely traded and their silver content is easily verified. Customers can use BlueVault’s precious metals scanner to authenticate them.
